Highway 12

I decided to try some 'kamikazee' photography the other day between Baraboo and Madison, WI. I stuck the camera out the window while driving and did not even look, just let autofocus do its thing.

I processed the images using Raw Therapee and Picasa2.

Mother and Child

I took this picture recently, and at the time, I was just taking a picture. Then when I looked at it, something about it struck me, and I decided to start editing, seeing what I could come up with. So I broke out the GIMP and this is what I came up with.

Some of you may recognize the models. ;)

stats for

Today ant in #lopsa asked if I had an updated version of irc stats. Which got me to thinking about actually updating it and keeping it up to date. So I did. Blame ant.

Would they know it when they saw it?

As I read some of the debate over what is and what is not torture, I keep coming back to 'The Golden Rule' or Ethic of Reciprocity.

treat others as you would like to be treated.

I wonder if those people who are splitting hairs over whether or not waterboarding is torture would change thier tune if it was done to them?

How do those that wish to condone the use of waterboarding think that the rest of the world will react? Will the U.S.A. then turn hypocritical, condemning the same technique being used on citizens of the U.S.A.?

It is very hard to say you are on high moral ground when you have sunk so low.

Moving things around

In an effort to move my blog to a more prominent position on my website, I have made it the new face of https://technomage.net. All of the content that was formerly available at https://technomage.net can now be found at https://files.technomage.net.

Most people should just get a seamless redirect, so they may not even notice the change.

Nikon D40 and ptpcam

After getting back from North Carolina this weekend, I decided to go looking around for FOSS PTP software to control the camera. And so I found ptpcam. It works with the D40, it just does not work with the -nic option. But -c and -G work just fine :)

Zooomr.com and some sunset pics

For some unknown reason I woke up at 17:50 tonight. After putzing around for a few minutes I decided to fix the vacuum cleaner that we picked up a new belt for today. Then my wife looked outside and said "Look! Sunset! Go get your camera!".

You can also see them on the Sunset page on my Camera site.

I am also experimenting with Zooomr for image hosting. I am still not sure if I want to use an outside provider or if I want to just find something that I like better than Gallery.

Oh yeah, have I mentioned lately that I love my wife? :)

I recently got a Nikon D40 digital SLR and have been happily shooting at anything that takes my fancy. Twice now my wife has either woken me up or gotten me out of bed just as I was laying down to take some pictures.

Once was for and then today was for .

I love my wife!
